The public education system is failing to provide its students with the knowledge and skills necessary for them to be productive, informed citizens in coming decades. The prospect of an under-educated citizenry, unable to understand or cope with issues arising in the management of the country and Commonwealth, should alarm everyone.

Almost two decades after this call to action, Massachusetts employers are still concerned about whether our public schools are preparing students to compete in the global economy of today and the future. Although MBAE has been instrumental in the many achievements of education reform, which are now firmly established in policy and practice, there is still much work left to be done. MBAE continues to focus on changes that can be made at the state level to raise student achievement, particularly in our most challenged and disadvantaged districts.
MBAE’s programs reflect our mission to bring together business and education leaders to promote public education reform through collaborative research, policy development, and advocacy.

We are also engaged in projects that will ensure a quality education for every child in the Commonwealth, and that will support our policy objectives and close the achievement gap to eliminate racial and socio-economic disparities in student educational opportunities and success.
