Welcome...
Thank you for visiting the Massachusetts Business Alliance for Education (MBAE) website. MBAE brings together business leaders, policy makers and educators to improve public education, and our website is one of the many tools we use to strengthen this important collaboration.
As one of the architects of the 1993 Massachusetts Education Reform Act, MBAE understands the compact the state has made with our schools: more funding in return for higher performance and accountability. Over the past fifteen years, MBAE has worked to support the Act’s implementation and protect the significant gains in student achievement that have come as a result. Although Massachusetts students are now earning high scores on national measures, our work is far from complete.
As business leaders, we know our students are no longer competing with their peers regionally or even nationally – but rather on a global scale. We also know that in too many communities statewide, high drop out rates and achievement gaps prevent students from attaining jobs that pay a family-sustaining wage. The imperative for reform is as strong today as it was in 1993, and MBAE remains committed to an agenda that will raise student achievement and prepare all Massachusetts graduates for success in college and career.
As you explore our site, please remember that everyone can play an active role in the work of education reform. Whether you are a teacher, a parent, a business executive, a policy-maker or a concerned citizen, your views and action are important. MBAE welcomes your thoughts and involvement and looks forward to working with you to prepare all students for the future!
Sincerely,
Maura Banta, Corporate Community Relations Manager, IBM
Chair, MBAE Board of Directors
